Count more than calories

Gourmang works out what your body actually needs, then grades what is on the plate for quality and processing, so two meals with the same calorie count stop looking like the same choice.

  • The plan screen: a daily calorie target with protein, carbs, fat and fibre, and a date to reach the goal
  • The home screen: the day ring, macro progress and the meals logged so far
  • A meal described in plain text and turned into calories and macros
  • A photographed Caesar salad broken into six named ingredients with weights, a quality grade and full nutrition facts
  • The quality sheet explaining a day grade and its processing level
  • A scanned product with its full nutrition facts

Whatever you are here for

The reasons people open Gourmang.

Your targets follow the goal and the pace you choose β€” lose, hold or gain. The rest of the list is what the app does once you are in it.

  • Lose weight
  • Build muscle
  • Eat more whole food
  • Hit your protein
  • Cut ultra-processed food
  • Understand a label
  • Keep a routine
  • Maintain weight
What makes us different

Three things most trackers get wrong.

Counting calories is the easy part. Knowing whether the number is right for you, and whether the food behind it was any good, is the rest.

Your targets

Numbers from your body, not a lookup table

Your height, weight, age and how much you actually move, run through the equation dietitians use, then adjusted for the pace you picked. Safety floors apply after that, so an ambitious pace never takes you below what you need.

Food quality

A grade on the plate, not just a total

Foods carry a quality grade, and a processing level wherever one can be established, and both add up across the meal and the day β€” it is what tells two identical calorie counts apart. And when it has not seen enough of your day to grade it fairly, it says so instead of guessing.

Logging

Log a meal the way you would describe it

Type it, photograph it, or scan the barcode. A photo of a salad comes back as six named ingredients with weights and a grade β€” and anything Gourmang estimated is labelled an estimate, editable before you save.

How it works

Set up in ninety seconds.

  1. 1

    Tell it about your body

Height, weight, where you want to get to, and how much you actually move. Ninety seconds, and you see the plan before you make an account.

  2. 2

    Log the way you talk

Describe the meal or photograph it β€” Gourmang works out the foods, portions and nutrition, and asks when it is unsure.

  3. 3

    Watch quality, not just calories

Entries carry a grade and, where it is known, a processing level, and they roll up to a day. You learn what to change, not just what to cut.

No black box

Backed by published science.

Nothing here is our own invention. The numbers behind your targets and your grades come from work that was peer-reviewed, published, and named in the app itself.

  • Mifflin-St Jeor

The resting-energy equation the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics recommends for healthy adults.

  • Nutri-Score

The front-of-pack grade used across Europe, rolled up from a single food to your whole day.

  • NOVA

The food-processing classification behind the research on ultra-processed diets.

  • Ciqual

The French food composition table: every listed food analysed in a laboratory, not read off a label.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is Gourmang free?

Yes, and it is one of the most generous free plans you will find: no ads, no limits on what you log, and AI logging every day. Premium unlocks all of Gourmang, with no daily limits.

Where do the calorie and macro numbers come from?

Mifflin-St Jeor for your basal rate, an activity multiplier for maintenance, then your chosen pace priced in calories β€” with safety floors applied afterwards, so an aggressive rate on a small frame lands on the floor rather than below it. The exact multipliers are published inside the app, on its own β€œhow targets work” screen.

How accurate is the photo and text logging?

Good on recognisable meals, and honest when it is not. Anything estimated is labelled as an estimate rather than presented as a measurement, and you can correct any portion before it is saved.

What is the quality grade?

A Nutri-Score grade paired with a NOVA processing level, aggregated across an entry, a meal and a whole day. It is what lets Gourmang tell two identical calorie counts apart.

Do you sell my data?

No. Your log is yours; we do not sell it or use it to target advertising. You can delete your account and all data from inside the app.

Which platforms is it on?

iOS and Android, built from one codebase so both stay in step.
