Gourmang 1.0 is Officially Live

After months of beta testing, our AI-powered nutrition tracker is now available on iOS and Android.

September 1, 2026

We are thrilled to announce that Gourmang 1.0 is officially available to download for everyone. What started as an internal tool to fix the broken, manual calorie counting process has evolved into a robust AI nutrition assistant that prioritizes science over guesswork.

No Black Box: Science-Backed Targets

Most diet apps give you a generic 2,000-calorie limit and call it a day. Gourmang is different. We calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, factor in your precise activity multipliers, and calculate your pacing deficit based on the physiological standard of 7,700 kcal per kg of body weight.

More importantly, we built in strict safety floors. Gourmang refuses to plan toward a target weight below a BMI of 18.5 — the WHO’s underweight threshold — and enforces hard calorie floors beneath whatever pace you pick, so an ambitious rate lands on the floor rather than below it.

Dynamic Protein & Nutrients

Your macros adapt to you. Whether you choose a Balanced, High-Protein, Lower-Carb or Endurance approach, Gourmang shifts your protein targets based on whether you are losing, maintaining, or gaining weight, following the ISSN’s published standards.

Plus, we track your daily fiber (aiming for 14g per 1,000 kcal), and hold you to two ceilings drawn from the WHO and the US dietary guidelines: sodium, and saturated fat under 10% of your energy.

We show every nutrient a food’s source declares, and set no daily target for a vitamin or mineral. Labels are too patchy to support one — iron appears on 20% of the packaged products we carry — and a single day says too little about a micronutrient even when the data is complete.

Quality Scoring: Nutri-Score & NOVA

Calories aren’t everything. Drawing on Open Food Facts and Ciqual, Gourmang scores what you log: foods are graded from A to E using the updated 2023 Nutri-Score algorithm, and carry a NOVA processing level wherever their ingredients are known.

Those scores roll up across a meal and a whole day, so you can see whether you ate well rather than only whether you stayed under a number. When too little of your day is scored to judge it fairly, Gourmang says so instead of inventing a grade.

AI Photo Parsing

In this release, we’ve finalized our AI photo parsing model. You can now take a picture of almost any meal, and Gourmang will break it down into ingredients, estimate the portions, and instantly calculate your macros and quality scores — always letting you know when it’s making an estimate so you stay in control.
